Tom replied. "Well Thank you Lieutenant. How's it going, everything checking out so far?" the CO asked, knowing that there was still a good number of supplies that needed to be verified. After all a year's worth of supplies for four members was a lot of supplies. Smiling a bit ruefully Tom answered "So far so good Sir, some things are not here as yet but SB OPS assures me they will be here well before we depart" Tom replied "Good, I have one more thing that I'd like to ask you to handle, if you have the time." Ahmed said with a smile. "Sure thing Sir, what do you need?" Tom replied. "It seems that Doctor Toenkampf is an unofficial fan of Peppermint Schnapps. I was wondering if you could scrounge up a few bottles and have them included in the shipment in an unofficial capacity." Tom held up his hand and said "I will be glad to provide that. I have a few 'unofficial' sources here and we can comply with that no problem. Would any of the others like something special - I have a few favors left outstanding an should be able to hook them up". "I'm not really sure, but if you can think of anything, put something together will you. These people have very few guests and they're a long way from home. Try to find them something nice to remind them that the federation appreciates their service." " Also, I understand that the Xega system is well outside the federation data network. Could you have someone from your department pull all the archaeological papers that have been published since the last visit to Xega, also all news, entertainment and similar?" the Co asked. "Sure thing skipper. I'll try to get them some different videos and e-books, as well as the papers you asked for. The Starbase PIO should be able to give us a hand as well" Jackson replied. Ahmed smiled, his day getting even better, "Excellent Lieutenant. Also, make certain that the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are ready to play transport of the materials and away teams back and forth. Once we arrive. See if you can get us a couple of pilots. Anyone you want from Operations, yourself included." NRPG: These are two of our runabouts, in case you were uncertain. (reply Jackson iyw) "We'll be heading out tonight by roughly 1900 hours, so let's do what we can to make certain everything is in good order before then." (reply Jackson) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Cargo Bay Three, COPS- lieutenant Tom Jackson Day 2- 1006) Tom and Ahmed were discussing the resupply mission they were about to embark on. Tom was anxious to have a pure exploration mission. He also was hoping he’d get some pilot time on the shuttles. He was thankful that the mission was such that ;planetary conditions precluded use of transporters. “I appreciate the offer to pilot one of the shuttles. I like to keep my piloting rating current” Tom told the CO in thanks. (reply: CO) They finished discussing some additional details. The CO wandered off to further check on things. Jackson returnee to his pile of pads. Departure time would be arriving all too soon. (reply: Any in Cargo Bay) (Posted by: Bill) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Cargo Bay Three, Crewman Caroline Winters - Day 2 - 1007) Caroline rubbed her eyes and refocused on the task at hand - double checking everything and anything to do with the habitation module that they were set to deliver to a team of archeologist. She never really understood how anyone would want to live year after year on a desolate planet without the conveniences of the universe at hand. But then, maybe that's how she ended up as an engineer instead of a scientist. When the doors opened for what seemed to be the millionth time that morning, she didn't even look up. People had been in and out all morning either delivering more materials or dropping off reports to Lieutenant Jackson. The cargo bay was positively hopping with activity. ~not as much as some clubs on Geneva. ~ she thought with a stifled grin. As she moved to the back of the unit to take a second series of readings that would tell them if the structural integrity would be what it should be, she couldn't help but glance in the Lieutenant's direction. He seemed to be in the midst of a conversation with the Captain. "Didn't expect to see him in the cargo bay." She said to herself in barely a whisper. She had the overwhelming urge to check to see if her hair was in place and that her uniform was in good order on the off chance that he noticed she was even there. The captain signified almost everything that Caroline looked for in a never going to happen romance. He was handsome, articulate, commanding and if rumor was true-single. She sighed concluding 'totally out of her league'. She shook her head with a smile and went back to her readings. ~At least I haven't turned delusional, just yet.~ She thought humorously. She still had a slight smile on her face when she heard was interrupted just a moment later. "Good morning, Crewman." The captain said. "Good morning, Captain." Caroline replied. She bit her tongue at following it up with a remark on how nice he looked today or something equally stupid. "How is it going? Any issues with the module?" He asked. "Well," She said walking around the corner that she was at so that she wouldn't have to carry on the conversation over it. "Everything looks to be as it should be. But we may need to make some modifications to the external stability rods. I'll know more once I complete the rest of the testing." "I see, well keep me informed. If you find anything that needs fixing, go ahead and see to it that it's taken care of. It's important that the Hab-unit is in impeccable condition. It's replacing a unit and will be in use for at least the next ten years." "By the time we're done with it, they'll want to keep it for fifteen." She said with a smile. "Very good. Carry on, Miss Winters." The captain said before turning and leaving the cargo bay. "And you wonder why you're dateless." She said shaking her head and turning back to complete the rest of the readings. (reply none) (posted by Ruby) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Cargo Bay Three, CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 2- 1009) "I appreciate the offer to pilot one of the shuttles. I like to keep my piloting rating current" Tom told the CO in thanks. Ahmed smiled. "I like for my crew to keep all their ratings current, lieutenant. I can't afford to let my personnel lose their positions because I didn't give them enough time to stay current now can I?" "I need to go and check on the Hab." The captain concluded, "Keep me informed if there are any problems, lieutenant." (reply none) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Cargo Bay Three, COPS - Lt Tom Jackson - Day 2 - 1009.75) Tom viewed the CO as one of his few friends. A loner by nature, Jackson was pleased to see his friend's rise up to command a starship. Jackson was [leased that he had been given the opportunity to pilot one of the re-supply shuttles once the Rose reached her destination. Ahmed paused and looked at Tom Jackson and said "I like for my crew to keep all their ratings current, lieutenant. I can't afford to let my personnel lose their positions because I didn't give them enough time to stay current now can I?" Tom smiled back and said "no, you certainly can't allow that to happen" and watched as the CO left and headed over to check out the habitat module. ~I am glad I serve under Ahmed~ and turned back to his multitude of tasks. (reply: CO IYW) (Posted by: Bill) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Shuttle Bay One, aCEO Ensign(sg) Mitena Rixx - Day 2- 1103) They'd been at the task of preparing the shuttlecraft and rover for their new home on Xega III for the past several hours. Mitena was certain that the shuttle bay probably hadn't had this many engineers in it at one time in a long time. Not even when it was under refit and repair at the station. Pretty soon they would be able to say they had checked and double checked every single piece on each vehicle from the smallest flow regulator to the coupler housing on the pressure intakes. They'd already replaced a couple of components that weren't quite up to specification and she was certain that she'd heard Lieutenant Matrix approve the replacement of a micro cooling unit. "Good morning Lieutenant, Ensign. How's the work going?" she heard from the front of the shuttlecraft. Looking up she saw the captain standing there. "Good morning, Captain." She said cheerfully. "Everything is proceeding very well." With a nod, "Good, how long then until you can finish the rest of the tests and get the shuttle reassembled?" "As long as we don't find anything major that needs replacement, I'd say that we should be able to close everything back up in another two to three hours." She said, looking to Lieutenant Matrix to see if he concurred with her assessment. His assistance had proven to be invaluable since he'd come aboard and she valued his opinion. (reply Matrix, iyw) "And how long on the Rover?" The captain asked. "The rover will most likely be done before the shuttlecraft is complete. We actually started on it first." She replied. "That's good news. I understand that the current base camp uses some environmental shields to protect it from flying debris in the twilight hours. As I understand it the change in upper atmospheric activity is pretty dramatic along the terminator for the planet. When we get there, I'd like for an engineering team to do a thorough test of those components and to conduct any repairs or upgrades as needed. I would also like to have someone do a diagnostic of the site's current Rover and see to it that it is well maintained and that any repairs or upgrades are performed on it as well. It will be staying at the site, for use by the scientists. Then there are several other pieces of machinery as well, such as the power core, computer core, and commstation to name a few that will need maintenance and possible repair or replacement." "I'll have a team ready when we get there. I'm sure that sciences will be able to give us the necessary information to make sure that we have everything calibrated and to the necessary specifications." She replied making a note on her PADD at the same time with a reminder to collect the data from Sciences. "Excellent that's what I was hoping to hear. Carry on then." "Happy to, Captain. Happy to." She smiled and looked over to Matrix as the captain left the shuttlebay. "Looks like we'll have plenty to keep us occupied, doesn't it?" (reply Matrix) (posted by Ruby) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Main Sickbay, aCMO Kimiko Ichijo- Day 2- 1146) After the Captain left, Kimiko turned to Dr Lopez, “Thank you for your initiative.” Dr Ichijo said. “However, I would like to wait on that until we can get a reasonable expectation of what material that is needed. There is no since in duplicating the inventory that was done post-mission” She smiled (Reply Lopez) “I would like you to create a brief for non-medical personnel visiting the surface” (Reply Lopez) “Pretty much anything that would fall under the medical purview” Kimiko gestured “environmental hazards, long and short term exposure to ambient radiation, symptoms of poisoning.” Kimiko thought for a moment “also any biological threats reported by the team.” (Reply Lopez) “Thank you doctor” (Posted by Jack) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Main Sickbay, CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 2- 1148) "I also will need someone to go through all the equipment and medical supplies in the Surgical Hab. If we need to supply them with anything, see to it that they get it, likewise for basic equipment." Ahmed ordered. "Yes Sir, I'll get right on it" Sam said. "Certainly" Kimiko agreed "A note; I noticed that the information on the original supply was sparse, if that info is available?" "Doctor the Original Supply was nearly thirty years ago. When the scientific team first set foot on Xega III. I'm fairly certain that any records available would be in the database. If not, get with Lieutenant Jackson and see what he can get you on it. I know that a lot of the supply manifests have chanced over the last three decades. A great many of the drugs and other equipment have been outdated or have become obsolete." he replied. "Thank you sir" She answered. "Your very welcome doctor. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you. Records for that sort of thing thirty years ago may have been put in long term storage, or seen so many updates that it may be impossible to determine what that expedition started with." "I also understand that the few plants that remain there are radiation resistant. It could prove an interesting experiment to find out how they manage to survive in such and environment. Likewise there are some sort of flying rodents called moongliders that could prove interesting as well. Since the Team is comprised of Archeologist, I can't say that a lot of work has gone into categorizing the flora and fauna There. If you and sciences should find yourselves with a little extra time, I'm certain that a small specimen gathering expedition could be planned." (reply Ichijo, Lopez) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Main Sickbay, ACMO Ensign Sam Lopez- Day 2- 1148.5) After the Captain left, Kimiko turned to Dr Lopez, “Thank you for your initiative.” Dr Ichijo said. “However, I would like to wait on that until we can get a reasonable expectation of what material that is needed. (Reply by Ichijo, any) (posted by shawn) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Main Sickbay - Head Nurse - Ensign (jg) Kitty Fisher - Day 2- 1150) Kitty had been making sure that all the supplies for the triage kits had been updated and stocked and was just on her way to let the new acting CMO know that this was another thing that could be ticked off the list when she saw both Drs Ichijo and Lopez talking to the Captain. She hung back, hiding in the shadows. Josh had passed the message on that the Captain was not displeased with the crew members who had become embroiled in the bar brawl and that no-one had to serve time in the brig, but Kitty, to be honest did not want to confront the Captain at present and possibly remind him about it. So hanging back she waited until he had left Sickbay. She waited a few minutes more since she honestly did not want to draw Dr Lopez' attention to herself either. He seemed to have, ever since he set foot on board, developed a dislike of her for some reason and Kitty had been doing all she could to avoid him since then. She sighed knowing that she was being silly. ~Kitty, for goodness sake stop being such a big girls blouse about it. You have disliked doctors before and they have disliked you. Grow up and get on with it. You are the Head Nurse, if he is rude to you then ignore it and simply do your job.~ Shaking her head and sighing Kitty marched across to the CMO's Office and tapping on the windows waited until the new aCMO asked her to enter. (Reply Ichijo) Kitty entered the room and smiled at the aCMO. "Sir, I have gone through all the triage kits and made sure that all the kits are up to date medicine and equipment wise. What else would you like me to do?" (Reply Ichijo) (Posted by Marilyn) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Main Sickbay – aCMO, Kimiko Ichijo - Day 2- 1151) Kimiko went back to her office; she had hoped that her nerves hadn’t showed. This was the first time that she had given an ‘order’ to a peer and she knew that it would take some time to get used to. “Cup of silver needle tea, 58 degrees” Kimiko removed the glass from the replicator. She turned to the console and pulled up the specifics on the mission. It looked pretty routine, there was no pressing medical needs or pending disasters. In fact if the most difficult thing was how to tickle thirty-year-old records out of archives, then this was as close to a ~dare I say~ cakewalk she had seen in a long while. She took a swallow of her tea and flipped though several files. ~There seems to be no such thing as standard equipment on these survey missions~ her search for disbursements to contemporary surveys revealed very few similarities, and of those were equipment that she had never heard of. She had just decided to give a full load out to the mission and they could do whatever with the original equipment. She looked up at the sound of tapping to the window to see Nurse Fisher. Kimiko motioned for her to enter. “Hello, Ms Fisher, please come in.” (Reply Fisher) Kitty entered the room and smiled at the aCMO. "Sir, I have gone through all the triage kits and made sure that all the kits are up to date medicine and equipment wise. What else would you like me to do?" “It looks like we are at loose ends until we reach the survey” Kimiko stated. I’ve decided that most of the equipment is better suited for a museum than first line use, so I would like you and Chief Fuller to condemn the material and liaison with corpsman to familiarize him with the new equipment, any questions or comments?” Kimiko asked (Reply Fisher) (Posted by Jack) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Main Sickbay - Head Nurse - Ensign (jg) Kitty Fisher - Day 2- 1153) “It looks like we are at loose ends until we reach the survey” Kimiko stated. I’ve decided that most of the equipment is better suited for a museum than first line use, so I would like you and Chief Fuller to condemn the material and liaison with corpsman to familiarize him with the new equipment, any questions or comments?” Kimiko asked. Kitty nodded her head. "Understood Sir. I will contact the Chief immediately and we will start work on this right away. We will go through the survey team's entire medical inventory and find out what in our inventory we have to replace it. I do however have three questions. One, may we please have the use one Nurse and one Med Tech to help us with this? Two, is our remit only for medical equipment or should we include standard medications as well and three, does this mean that you need the Chief and I on planet to co-ordinate the replacement." (Reply Ichijo) Kitty nodded. "Understood Sir. I'll contact the Chief and get right on it." Kimiko thought for a moment and replied “Certainly, I feel that you and the chief may be due for a few hours on away mission time…away time…TDY….umm..whatever” Kimiko shrugged “so yes, I would like you both down there and any spare hands you need. I don’t anticipate a great need for our services here so alpha shift can cover.” Kimiko finished “as for the medicine, I wouldn’t trust any that hadn’t been used in thirty years regardless of what the manufacture’s promised shelf life is” Kitty nodded. "Understood Sir. I'll contact the Chief and get right on it." (Reply none) (Posted by Jack) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Sciences, CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 2- 1235) Louis nodded again. "They're notoriously short on heavier elements to begin with and at this stage of development most have swallowed up or scoured the surfaces of their planets. The atmosphere of Xega III has to have been modified or fortified in some fashion to have retained any kind of life-sustaining capability since there is no vegetation to speak of on the surface to regenerate it. That in itself points to an outside agent and some of the archaeologists earlier reports hint at it. If the Xegans did indeed find some way to aid in the protection of their biosphere the methods or technology will be invaluable to the federation to extend the lives of several planets which are currently threatened by imminent stellar events." "That takes pressure off of the need for expansion and gives us time to find habitable planets for the inhabitants of Alpha Ceti five and Merisol two. The repercussions of such a find would be incalculable." "I agree entirely." Ahmed said with a nod. "I've followed Doctor Toenkampf's work closely since I was a cadet at the academy. Even then, his theory that the Xegan had developed some sort of limited Terraforming equipment, which he called the Balancer Machine, were pretty controversial. Mostly because there were only obscure references and other similar inferences through out their studies that they'd uncovered along the way." "Of course finding such a device or machine doesn't mean that we'll be able to unravel how it works or even how it might be replicated." "While I'm certain that the science department will be exceptionally interested in the technology, I know that there would be thousands of engineers that would be just as eager to take it apart and figure out how it works. Myself included." "I'm glad to see that everything is going well. I still need to speak with my security department and we should be ready to depart later tonight around 1900 hours, tonight with arrival in the Xega System at roughly 1200 tomorrow." "I'm certain that you have a lot of preparation to do." (reply Benoit, Remey) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - CTAC Office - 2O/CTAC - Lt Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan Day 2 - 1353) The chime of the door to her office chimed as T'Larah and Charlie were discussing the updates their departments had received in spacedock. T'Larah had a manual hidden door control she installed under her side of the desk, since leaning over the desk gave her an opportunity to activate it clandestinely, she did so. No one seemed any the wiser. The door opened to reveal Captain Salid. ~Not who I expected.~ "Good afternoon." Ahmed began. "As you know we'll be reaching Xega III within the next couple of days. I wanted to make certain that you were aware of my intentions to send landing teams to the planet." "Understood." she said simply. Chance’s eyebrows went up “What; and I thought you engineered some really cool Harry Houdini trick up your sleeve to get all that gear down there.?.” the security chief stated in sarcastic surprise. Then as he smiled “Yes sir, scuttlebutt has gotten around.” "Very good. I understand that the station's phasers are overdue for replacement. Mister Raschen I'd like for you to see to it that they are provided new equipment from the ship's stores. We'll take possession of the old ones and have them rebuilt for our use. Also, It wouldn't hurt for you to have some of your security personnel do a detailed scan of the stations computer system to make certain that there aren't any unwanted viruses or malware that may cause issues for the station personnel after we leave. We also need to download all the official logs for the last year as they are too far out to handle the automatic updates from the relay beacons." “Most of that is no problem sir. I’ll have the hackers take care of the computer security and the logs. I’ll get the armor to check out the phasers. The only pause I have depends on what kind of shape the current systems are in. If we pull from the Rose itself, that could put us in bad shape till we return to dock; we might be able to SLEP the systems they have. If push comes to shove though, I can probably arrange for a delivery. As for the relay beacons….that is really out of my ‘lane of fire’ sir.” Ahmed nodded. "That will work. As for the relays, they'll be easy enough, they deploy as if they were a probe. It's more for tactical than security," Ahmed replied. "Oh, and as a note, concerning your MTOE request Lieutenant. You should have a squad of converted Starfleet Marines coming on board before we depart Starbase with all their equipment. Keep it stowed, I don't want it to be used at all unless there are no other options. As for Rosenbauer's crew. Your request for the ranger equipment was approved by Admiral Heatherby. And while He's not exactly on my good list at the moment, I see no reason to countermand his order. It will be delivered to the armory tonight as well. Same thing as with the Marine equipment though. Specialized equipment for very specific uses. Understood?" ~MTOE request? I never saw an MTOE....~ T'Larah though and then recovered. ~ By Starfleet regs a section chief's first stop is the First officer and not the Second. So Chance followed the correct protocol. He could have at least told me.~ She thought and promised herself to speak with Mr Raschen, not to dress him down, but out of curiosity. "I'll have Nun meet the Marines and get them settled, and have Mike get his Rangers re-acquainted and settled. Then I'll have V'Shera secure their combat gear in the armory and the additional duty of Armory OIC. Sir, with your permission, because the armory is down there, I would like to reopen the Marine section of the ship for training, team building, and what not?" Chance explained and inquired with a touch of excitement in his voice. Ahmed considered it for the moment. "That area was originally designed for a demi company and you only have a pair of squads." He said as he considered it. "Okay, but utilize only the training compartments. I still want the additional marine quarters vacant and available for other uses." He finally said. Ahmed then turned his attention to his chief tactical officer. "As you know the Xega system is very close to Orion, Breen and Cardassian space. I'd like to do a detailed scan of the surrounding area to make certain that we don't have any unwanted visitors. I'd also like to place a couple of early warning satellites in the system to relay data to the survey team in case another ship should enter the system. Also we have a new orbital satellite to install in orbit to aid the doctor in their planetary surveys. I'd like for you to make certain that we'll be able to deploy it properly without complications." T'Larah had stopped leaning on the desk some time ago she thought and responded. "The early warning satellites can be retro fitted with the old phaser arrays from the colony, once they've been updated and repaired. Then the satellites can be programed with a hostility detection algorithm to deter hostilities. The satellites have standard scientific sensor arrays which are more then capable of dealing with tactical matters. If it still has enough storage room we may be able to install additional cloak detection programs for added security." (Reply Captain Salid) "The relay satellites will be even easier. Depending on the construction, which admittedly I have not had time to research it, either a launch from the torpedo tubes or a work-bee from engineering to build it in place. It will be done." (Reply Captain Salid, Raschen IYW) (Posted by Todd) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Main Engineering, ACEO- Lieutenant Steven Matrix Day 2- 1355.5 ) The Rosenante was due to get underway in a few hours and there was much to complete before the massive ship was to debark on its next mission. Engineering and operations teams were busy around the ship, completing last minute tweaks to various systems. Matrix and Rixx were finalizing the balance equations for the warp drive and entering them into the simulation computer for verification. Matrix rubbed his cheek as he stood over the central control table in main engineering. The injury all but healed still sore from the episode with the Klingon. He punched up the new code routines and looked up at the CEO. "Ensign Rixx, intermix looks good, simulation results show nominal parameters. I think we've got it ironed out. The computer shows a three percent increase in output efficiently. I rather doubt we'll realize that when we get underway." said Matrix to the new CEO. (Reply Rixx) Matrix turned to his PADD to address the CEO's question, "Sorry Ensign, I hadn't anticipated that variable. We have time so if there are no objections I'll get to work on those equations." Matrix replied. (Reply Rixx) Matrix smiled, "Of course, I had anticipated that one thank you." Matrix picked up his PADD and punched the pre-defined code word. The PADD and the primary computer exchanged the equation variables the two engineers had been discussing. "I'll be over in station 3...it should only take about a 30 minutes to get these equations worked out and into the primary helm computer." said Matrix, as he walked over to the far end of engineering. Keep it stowed; I don't want it to be used at all unless there are no other options. As for Rosenbauer's crew; your request for the ranger equipment was approved by Admiral Heatherby. And while He's not exactly on my good list at the moment, I see no reason to countermand his order. It will be delivered to the armory tonight as well. Same thing as with the Marine equipment though. Specialized equipment for very specific uses; understood?" Chance turned to T’Larah, smiled and then turned back to the skipper “I’ll have Nun meet the Marines and get them settled, and have Mike get his Rangers re-acquainted and settled. Then I’ll have V’Shera secure their combat gear in the armory and the additional duty of Armory OIC. Sir, with your permission, because the armory is down there, I would like to reopen the Marine section of the ship for training, team building, and what not?” Chance explained and inquired with the excitement of a plan coming together. Chance explained and inquired with a touch of excitement in his voice. Ahmed considered it for the moment. "That area was originally designed for a demi company and you only have a pair of squads." He said as he considered it. "Okay, but utilize only the training compartments. I still want the additional marine quarters vacant and available for other uses." He finally said. (reply Raschen iyw) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - Gamma Shift leader - Lieutenant Xim - Day 2- 1358) The doors to the bridge whooshed open with a barely audible hiss as the turbolift car slipped to a halt. Xim stepped out onto the Bridge, his eyes catching the excited but not frantic buzz of activity as the crew was preparing for a true scientific mission for a change. Xega III had been one of the most famous archeological sites in the federation for the better part of three decades. And the chief Archeologist Doctor Toenkampf was considered one of the best archeologists of his time. The man's reputation and the findings that his small team of four had recovered through the years had been required study in the academy if you specialized in xenoarcheology. There weren't many people who were alive at the time that the Academy was pushing thier techniques and findings to new cadets. The Betelgeusean moved across the bridge and stopped in at the center chair to regard Commander Caskie as she worked her way through a series of PADDS that were most likely mission readiness reports mixed in with the usual ship's daily business. She was absorbed in her work, completely and in it's entirety. It wasn't until she noticed his feet that she finally realized what time it was. "Mr. Xim. Is it that time already? My how time flies when your enjoying yourself." Josh immediately hopped out of the chair and smiled at him. "The chair is yours, the PADDS are yours, the Bridge is formally yours. Have fun and don't do anything I wouldn't do". Xim smiled at her. "Indeed commander, It is time for the next shift." He replied, "I will happily take command of the PADDS, bridge and the center chair. Besides, it looks like you need a bit of a break." "I formally relieve you commander. Enjoy your off time." He stated as she vacated the center chair with a nod and a smile. (reply Caskie iyw) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Main Engineering, aCEO- Ensign(sg) Mitena Rixx - Day 2 - 1359) Engineers moved from station to station in a flurry of motion each one set on a task that would make certain that the ship would be prepared to leave the station in time. Not to be left out of the preparations, Mitena was just as busy. She glanced up at Lieutenant Matrix as he took his eyes from the main engineering console for what seemed like the first time in the past hour. "Ensign Rixx, intermix looks good, simulation results show nominal parameters. I think we've got it ironed out. The computer shows a three percent increase in output efficiently. I rather doubt we'll realize that when we get underway." said Matrix. "Quite right, Lieutenant." Mitena glanced back through the results and considered for a moment. "Did you include the field dynamic equation adjustments for the new magnetic constrictors in the port side intermix injector assembly?" Matrix turned to his PADD to address the CEO's question, "Sorry Ensign, I hadn't anticipated that variable. We have time so if there are no objections I'll get to work on those equations." Matrix replied. "Hmm...What about the adjustments for the new Dilithium crystal attenuator?" She said with a sly smile, knowing the answer. The new attenuator had come up earlier in conversation when it was discovered that component hadn't been properly documented from the last time they had been at Geneva station for repairs. Matrix smiled, "Of course, I had anticipated that one thank you." "You know, I had no doubt of it." "I'll be over in station 3...it should only take about a 30 minutes to get these equations worked out and into the primary helm computer." Matrix replied. "That sounds like a fine plan, Lieutenant. And while you're working on that, I'll go make sure that the additional materials been transferred over from the station." Matrix headed in one direction and she headed in another with a happy spring in her step. Working with Lieutenant Matrix was proving to be a very enjoyable endeavor. He was proving to be a better then capable engineer, a knowledgeable lieutenant and an all around nice person to talk to. Mitena was looking forward to a destination that didn't mean they would be docking back at Geneva for repairs anytime soon. (reply none) (posted by Ruby) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - Holodeck 2 - SO, Ensign Mike Rosenbauer - Day 2- 1420) Mike stepped into the Holodeck, clutching a pair of champagne flutes in his left hand and bottle of chilled French Champagne in his left. He had just been relieved from his shift and had decided that it would be a good time to spend a little time with his girlfriend, since their last shore leave had been sabotaged by his department head and their time together of late had been limited. He spotted her, laying on the sand, her arm lay over her eyes to block the sunshine. Her dog, Lulu was busy running around the beach, chasing whitecaps and seemed to be having a great time there in the Atlantic surf. It was warmer here than Mike would have thought, since the beach seemed to be fairly northerly, but the sun shone brightly and the stiff breeze from the water wasn't as bone chilling as he had expected it to be. She hadn't seemed to have noticed his arrival, and so mike, walked quietly across the sand in his sandals and Khaki pants with a Starfleet Rangers Tee-shirt until he was positioned between her and the sun, holding up the glasses and the bottle of bubbly, wearing a smile on his face. (reply Caskie) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - Holodeck 2 - FO - Josh Caskie - Day 2-1423) Josh was simply lying on her back relaxing, one arm thrown out beside her and one arm thrown across her eyes to keep the sun out of them when suddenly the sun was blocked behind something else. Blinking and looking up somewhat Josh smiled, seeing Mike there. "Hiya sweetie. It's lovely to see you again. You should have told me you were coming I would have brought a picnic. We certainly deserve that at least. " (Reply Rosenbauer iyw) (Posted by Marilyn) ------------------------- Mission: The Quondam Season Day: 2 Stardate: 2408.12.23 (USS Rosenante, Bridge, CO- Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid- Day 2- 1855) Ahmed sat smiling in the center chair with Lieutenant Xim assuming the First officer's position. The Captain had a tradition of always being on the bridge when his ship left Starbase. It wasn't that he didn't trust Xim, It was simply that he relished any opportunity to sit in the seat, especially at the start of a new mission. "Some of the senior Bridge crew had returned to the bridge for much the same reasons." Raschen and Sullivan was at their consoles, and Jackson was at the Operations station. A few others eager to see the ship depart had reported as well and Ahmed would not be surprised if the doors to the bridge opened at any moment to spill his own first officer onto the bridge as well. The Captain rose from his seat and stopped midway between the command chair and the CONN station. "Mister Jackson, Take the Helm. Mister Dralar will be detained at Starbase Geneva a bit longer on official business. He'll be catching up with us a bit later." (reply Jackson) "Mister Raschen, please notify Geneva Control that we are disengaging docking clamps and that they are free to retract the gangplank and release the umbilicus." (reply Raschen) After Jackson had moved to the CONN station and Raschen had cleared their departure from the station, Ahmed smiled and said simply. "Mister Jackson. Take us out." (reply Jackson) "Once we are clear of the station zone, set a course for the Xega System and engage at Warp Factor 7." (reply Jackson, Raschen) Daniel Greene ------------------------- (USS Rosenante- Bridge- CSEC- LT Chance Raschen - Day 2 - 1856.2) Raschen sat at his console like a few others eager to see the ship depart had reported as well. The Captain rose from his seat and stopped midway between the command chair and the CONN station. After directing Jackson to take the helm, the skipper then called out "Mister Raschen, please notify Geneva Control that we are disengaging docking clamps and that they are free to retract the gangplank and release the umbilicus." For some reason, the security console wasn’t responding to his off ship communication commands. So he went over to the Operations station, Raschen’s fingers flowed over the controls just like they did when he was once an operations officer when he first got aboard the Rosenante. “Geneva Station Dock Control this is USS Rosenante; please be advised that we have retracted the gangplank and release the umbilicus. Request the release of docking clamps and permission to get underway as previously arranged?” =^=USS Rosenante this is Dock Control; clamps are being retracted and you have permission to get underway as soon as clamps are cleared your vessel. Have a safe Journey Rosenante. =^= “Thank you Control, take care yourself. Rosenante standing by on this channel.” Chance said before turning toward the captain after looking at the docking clamp readings. “Sir, docking clamps are clear and we have permission to get underway.” The next thing Raschen heard come out of the skipper’s mouth was "Mister Jackson. Take us out. Once we are clear of the station zone, set a course for the Xega System and engage at Warp Factor 7." (Reply any who wish) Posted by Charlie ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Bridge, FO - Cmdr Josh Caskie- Day 2 - 1857) Josh could not help it, nor would she apologise for it. She liked to be on the bridge when they left station, so there she was quietly standing against one wall and simply enjoying herself for once. She had nothing to do but watch the ship leave Geneva since usually she was tasked with making it so. This time the Captain had taken it on himself to order Lt Jackson to pilot the ship and she watched as he expertly piloted the ship away from the station. Once the ship was clear Josh simply nodded. smiled and made her way back to her own quarters since she had a pressing engagement there. (Reply no-one) (Posted by Marilyn) ------------------------- (USS Rosenante, Bridge, COPS- Lieutenant Tom Jackson - Day 2- 1859) Tom had arrived easily, like most of the senior staff had done. It wasn;t that they did not trust their subordinates to do a good job, each officer liked to be on the bridge for the start of a new mission. Each was anticipating a pure scientific mission - a nice change of pace from what the Rose had been THROUGH the ;last few times out. Tom was scanning the OPS console and had assured himself they were as ready as they could be. He was surprise d the Cmdr Caskie had not yet arrived and Xin was sitting in the FO's chair next to the Captain. Tom Jackson was a bit surprised not to see LT Dralar at the Helm position. ~I guess he got hung up at SB Geneva~ he thought and shrugged his shoulders. Captain Salid stood and walked part way towards the Helm slot. I wonder if he is considering piloting us out?~ Tom mused. Captain Salid, while conventional in many ways, had a kanck of surprising you when you least expected. The captain turned and spoke to Jackson "Mister Jackson, Take the Helm. Mister Dralar will be detained at Star base Geneva a bit longer on official business. He'll be catching up with us a bit later." "aye. Aye Sir" and moved from 6the OPS to Helm position. Tom was a fully rated pilot but he had not conned a Rosenante class star ship out of dock in a loooooong time and was a bit nervous. Tom sat down and scanned the readings. He was satisfied that things were OK. "We're ready to depart Sir" he added. Captain Salid continued speaking "Mister Raschen, please notify Geneva Control that we are disengaging docking clamps and that they are free to retract the gangplank and release the umbilicus". Chance replied and spoke to SB Geneva Departure control stating what was needed. Tom held the Rose steady with the station keeping thrusters The Captain then instructed Tom to ""Mister Jackson. Take us out." "Aye Aye Skipper" T.J. replied. The captain added to Tom's Instructions with "Once we are clear of the station zone, set a course for the Xega System and engage at Warp Factor 7." Smiling like a kid with the family car keys for the first time Jackson replied "Heading out -1/4 impulse power" and the ship moved away from the massive base. Tom messaged Engineering and made sure warp drive was available, (reply: Engineering) Tom got the OK for warp flight and punched up warp seven and the ship burst firth like a magnificent race horse freed to run. Tom Jackson had forgotten how much he loved piloting. (reply: Any on Bridge) (posted by Bill) ------------------------- -------------------------
